Vale of Leven 10k

It was pouring with rain and I had zero motivation to get out of bed this morning. But I'm glad I did. The final race in the Polaroid 10k series starts off at Loch Lomond Shores and follows a route through the village of Balloch. There's a nasty long hill near the start but it's mostly ok after you reach the 2k marker and it goes downhill again. The weather was actually perfect for running with the light drizzle soaking you and I felt alright considering my training since the last run involved watching the World Cup and drinking beer! I got round in 45.40 on my watch and I think just under 46 on the official timer 'cause I sprinted round the finish to make sure I didn't go over!

Despite my lack of training over the last week and a half, I think the series has got my back into some sort of shape again so I'm going to try and keep that up. That includes doing more in the hills and getting back on my bike a bit more at the weekends too.

Dumbarton 10k - Polaroid #3

The third race in the Polaroid series was at Dumbarton Academy last night. It was a beautiful evening - clear blue skies and great views of Dumbarton Rock. The run itself basically follows part of the Glasgow-Loch Lomond cycle path and loops back so it's pleasant enough. I got round in 45.20, which was a little slower than last week, but the heat always slows me down so I'm quite happy with that. The final race is now on Sunday 18th June at Loch Lomond Shores.

Polaroid 10k series

This year I've entered the whole of the series, which takes in races around the west of Glasgow. So far we've had Helensbrough (45:53) and last night was Clydebank (45:00 although I forgot my watch! Clock read 45:07 when I crossed the line but I started a fair way back so probably snook just under...). Yet to come are Dumbarton next Thursday and then Vale of Leven on June 18.
