Nigel Barge 10k

We are just back from running this race, drinking brews out of our commemorative mugs! I did the run with Meg, Alan (from work) and (walking) Katie. It was the first time any of us had run this race but it was a nice start to the new year, apart from all the hills! But last week's fell race must have helped me n Meg with them, cos I got a PB - by ONE second!! I'm still counting that though! My time was 42.44.

Meg did 44.40, Alan around 50mins and Katie got a PB which she hopes was just under 55mins. The results should be up on the Maryhill Harriers website so I'll check them there later. And Meg's trying to convince me to join her in the Edinburgh Marathon in May now... hmmmmmmmmm.

Auld Lang Syne fell race

To finish off 2006 I ran this fell race up Pennistone Hill in Yorkshire. It was a 6.5miler with 1000ft of ascent and was great preparation for the drinking to come - especially as the 'medal' was a bottle of local ale (a very nice one, too) in its own special labelled bottle.

I was running (and walking up some of the steeper slopes) with Meg and Iain, and just managed to hold my bro off by a few yards in 1.02ish! Meg was not far behind in 1.06 or 1.09 - I can't remember which!

I'm not sure where the full results for this are published so if anybody knows, please drop me an email as I'd be interested to see them. Cheers!

  • Race report

THIS year we're starting off with a 10k tomorrow and then I'll be helping Meg train towards the Edinburgh Marathon after I come back from Kilimanjaro.

Other races I plan to do are the Great North Run and Great Scottish Run again, plus a few more of the shorter, local races which the club run.
