On track for marathon training
Last night we headed down to the athletics track to get us in the swing before our training schedule starts officially in just over a week.
We did a session of 10 reps of 300m parlouf. This consists of one person running 300m round the track while the other person jogs/walks back up the track 100m. In theory you should both reach the same point at the same time, though in practise it doesn't always work out that way.
It's one of those funny sessions where, for the first few reps, you feel as though you should be pushing harder, but by number six or seven you know you are benefiting from the speed training.
We'll probably try a 10m or so run tomorrow - if this wild wind ever calms down! Then it's one more week until our programme starts on Monday, January 26 - though it starts with a nice easy five-miler for me, so it's a gentle introduction!
